SolarCoin is migrating to a new Ethereum-based blockchain on April 17, 2021. You will be able to claim your new SolarCoin by following these instructions.

The migration will allow the project to take advantage of the large Ethereum ecosystem of tools and developers. It also allows us to collaborate with the Energy Web Foundation.

If you have SolarCoin in a desktop wallet you may migrate by importing your private keys into an ethereum wallet at your convenience. Most SolarCoin holders will be able to see their coin balances after the 18th of April 2021.

A snapshot of the SolarCoin Blockchain will be taken at block #3,977,777 this is Thursday, April 15, 2021. You can monitor progress with the Chainz blockchain explorer.

Lykke

If you have SolarCoin at Lykke we recommend transferring them to a SolarCoin wallet before April 15, 2021 which is when Lykke has indicated they will cease listing and trading of classic SolarCoin. Lykke has notified their customers that they will be delisting SolarCoin as of April 15, 2021. We recommend those who hold balances on Lykke and wish to maintain a position in SolarCoin transfer those balances to a SolarCoin desktop wallet, as any funds that remain on Lykke will not be migrated to the new blockchain.

Transfering your funds from Lykke:

  1. Download the SolarCoin desktop wallet application and install it on your desktop. There is not a current mobile wallet. The New blockchain has multiple mobile wallets.
  2. Create a passphrase and store it securely.
  3. Get your receiving address from the desktop wallet and request a balance transfer from Lykke to your receiving address. You will not need to fully sync the blockchain.
  4. The SolarCoin will be sent to that address. Note that they will not show up in your wallet if it isn’t fully synced with the blockchain, however, you can confirm the transfer by entering the receiving address into a blockchain explorer such as this one.

We know this is technically challenging and have tried to make it straightforward as possible. Some extra instructions on syncing the blockchain with a ‘bootstrap’ file are hereThis can accelerate the process to less than an hour vs. what may sometimes take days.

SolarCoin is migrating to a new blockchain based on Ethereum on April 17, 2021. You will be able to claim your new SolarCoin by following these instructions.

Once your SolarCoin are in your desktop wallet, they are safe. You may migrate to the new blockchain when you feel comfortable and have time.

Remember:

SolarCoin will never ask for your passphrase, recovery mnemonic, or private keys. You should keep these secure and never share them with untrusted parties.

Official updates about the SolarCoin project can be found on medium or following Twitter.

An unmoderated community slack and subreddit also exist. SolarCoin is not responsible for any content in unofficial channels.
